5G: Next generation in mobile technology beyond 4G/IMT-Advanced standards.

802.11ac: A faster version than the existing 802.11n standard for Wi-Fi. The new version can deliver several gigabits per second.

DOCSIS 3.1: Launched in 2013, this is the latest Data Over Cable Service Interface specification. It uses cable lines already installed to provide ultra-fast gigabit internet.

G.fast: A digital subscriber line (DSL) protocol for local loops with performance targets between 150 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s.

Gigabit: High-speed data transfer rate with at least 1,000 megabits per second.

GPON: Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks that delivers high-bandwidth and long reach.

HFC: Hybrid-Fiber Coax is a broadband network that combines optical fiber and coaxial cable.

LTE-A: Long Term Evolution-Advanced delivers larger and faster wireless-data payloads than standard 4G with theoretical speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s.
